🕌 Do I need to be Sikh to visit?
No. Everyone is welcome at a Gurdwara—regardless of religion, race, gender, or background. The Sikh faith embraces universal equality.
👕 What should I wear?
Please dress modestly and cover your head (both men and women) as a sign of respect.
- Scarves or bandanas are available at the entrance.
- Avoid revealing clothing or shorts.
🧼 Do I need to remove my shoes?
Yes. Shoes must be removed before entering the prayer hall. Shoe racks and washing areas are provided.
🍛 What is Langar, and can I eat it?
Langar is a free community kitchen open to all.
- It is always vegetarian and served equally to everyone.
- You’re welcome to eat, regardless of your background or beliefs.
🪙 Do I need to bring a donation?
No. Donations are voluntary.
If you wish to support the Gurdwara, donation boxes are available and your seva (selfless service) is always appreciated.
🪯 How should I behave inside the prayer hall?
- Sit respectfully and quietly, usually on the floor.
- Avoid pointing feet toward the Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
- Keep phones on silent.
- Bowing is a personal choice and a sign of respect.
📵 Can I take photos or videos?
Generally, no photography is allowed in the main Darbar Sahib (prayer hall).
Please ask a volunteer if unsure.
🕙 When should I visit?
You’re welcome any time the Gurdwara is open.
Sunday programs and Gurpurabs (Guru’s birth anniversaries) are especially meaningful and vibrant.
👥 Do men and women sit separately?
In some Gurdwaras, men and women sit on opposite sides.
This is a traditional practice, not a religious rule. Follow the local custom.
